Swahili Nation One Africa (SNOA) is a global Pan-African movement founded by Mika Chavala to advance the vision of a united Africa.
The modern borders that divide Africa were largely established during the Berlin Conference of 1884–1885, where European powers partitioned much of the continent without African representation. While these borders define the political map of Africa today, they do not define the continent's shared history, identity, or future.
The movement exists to connect Africans across the continent and throughout the diaspora, creating opportunities for collaboration, economic transformation, cultural renewal, and shared prosperity. SNOA believes that Africa's greatest strength lies not in its divisions but in its people.
The movement is built on a simple conviction:
Africa's future will not be imported. Africans will build it.
SNOA works to promote African unity through education, dialogue, advocacy, media, and collaboration with governments, institutions, businesses, civil society, and citizens who share the vision of a stronger and more integrated continent. Its long-term vision is One Africa founded on Peace, Love, Solidarity, and Shared Prosperity.

Our mission
The movement believes that lasting transformation begins with the liberation of the mind. Political independence alone is not enough if Africans remain mentally dependent on ideas that limit their confidence, creativity, and belief in their own potential.
Our priorities
SNOA advocates practical policies that strengthen African integration and economic development.
Every African should have the right to travel freely throughout the continent without unnecessary visa restrictions. A common African passport would encourage tourism, trade, investment, education, employment, and cultural exchange while strengthening continental identity.
Africans should never be strangers within Africa. SNOA supports the full implementation of existing African Union protocols that promote the free movement of people, goods, services, and capital across the continent.
The movement supports the accelerated implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) as one of the most significant opportunities for industrialization, job creation, regional value chains, and long-term economic growth.
Millions of people of African descent living around the world remain connected to the continent through history, culture, and heritage. SNOA advocates stronger partnerships that encourage investment, knowledge transfer, entrepreneurship, and innovation while recognizing the historical legacy of the transatlantic slave trade.
SNOA believes Africa must increasingly finance its own development by mobilizing domestic resources, strengthening institutions, promoting industrialization, and ensuring that the continent benefits more fully from its natural and human resources.
Africa represents more than one billion people. SNOA encourages greater cooperation among African governments and institutions so that the continent can engage internationally with greater coordination and confidence while respecting the sovereignty of every member state.

Our philosophy
SNOA believes that Africa's greatest challenge is not simply political or economic — it is also psychological.
Many of the systems that shaped Africa during the colonial era continue to influence how Africans think about themselves, their identity, and their potential. True transformation requires more than new policies; it requires a renewed mindset.
For this reason, the movement places particular emphasis on the decolonization of the mind. Africans must rediscover confidence in their history, believe in their own capacity to innovate, and reject narratives that portray dependency as inevitable.

Our inspiration
Although SNOA is a young movement, its vision builds upon generations of Pan-African leadership.
It draws inspiration from leaders such as Kwame Nkrumah, who championed African political unity, and Julius Nyerere, who demonstrated how language could become a powerful instrument of continental integration through Swahili.
SNOA seeks to carry these ideas into the twenty-first century by combining Pan-African ideals with digital technology, entrepreneurship, education, and the energy of a new generation.
Our call
We believe that the time for African unity is no longer a distant aspiration it is an urgent responsibility.
We call upon African citizens, governments, the African Union, the Pan-African Parliament, the private sector, civil society, and the African diaspora to work together toward a continent where people move freely, trade freely, innovate freely, and build prosperity together.
The Africa envisioned by SNOA is peaceful, confident, economically integrated, intellectually free, and globally influential. Its future will not be determined elsewhere.

The One Africa Movement was founded by Mika Chavala on 29 July 2021 as a digital initiative with a bold vision: to inspire a new generation of Africans to embrace unity, shared identity, and collective responsibility for the continent's future.
What began as conversations on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram quickly evolved into a growing Pan-African movement. Through thought-provoking content, educational discussions, and a consistent message of “One Africa, One People, One Future,” the movement attracted supporters from across the continent and the African diaspora who believed in a more united and prosperous Africa.
After months of steady growth online, the movement reached a historic milestone on 1 March 2022, when it was officially launched in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia — the diplomatic capital of Africa and home to the African Union. The launch brought together participants from several African countries, marking the beginning of One Africa as a continental movement rather than simply a digital community.
Today, the One Africa Movement continues to advocate for African unity, freedom of movement, youth leadership, economic integration, and the long-term vision of One Africa, One Passport. Through leadership forums, media, education, strategic partnerships, and public engagement, the movement seeks to inspire Africans to move beyond borders, embrace a shared destiny, and work together to build a stronger, more prosperous continent.
